I saw my first classroom for the first time ever about two weeks ago! I had been told that the previous teacher left the room decorated. I had mixed feelings about it at first because I was sooo excited about decorating my first classroom. I wanted to make it mine. Well when I found out that it was still decorated I also at the same time found out that my team bird was the Owl. So then I thought to myself o. k., now I am happy that it is still decorated. Because finding Owl decorations was going to be challenging. I would have to make a lot of decorations myself.
As I walked into the room I began to realize that the decorations that were still remaining were a good thing. Yes, there was A LOT of brown, but owls do live in the forest. So I began to see an alternative to all of the brown. I would simply make it my own, move things around, take old things down and put new things up. Oh, one thing I don't know and one of you might is the rainforest border that was around the a\c vent and a\c controller. The question here is : Do owls live in the rainforest? Well I don't know and if you do that's great! But anyway it is no longer on the forest walls of Room 614.
The one thing that I am really excited about decorating is my room door. I found the best picture ever to use for it. It is the one at the beginning of this post. Anyway it is perfect because it is an Owl reading a book. Yes, corny but I am a Language Arts and READING teacher. So yes I thought it was the ultimate cool. You know me! Well anyway, I am taking my time and doing a little at a time. I am just soaking it all in as it slowly becomes a reality that in August that room will be full of 20 students for the morning hours and then a whole new set of 20 different faces in the afternoon hours. Yeah, 40 kids total. Well I guess that's it for now! Oh... and I can't forget to give recognize my hard working Cousin who helps me with all of my school work. To think she hates school, however, I think she will one day see how much it has and will be a big part of her life. I know I have! Have a great weekend everyone!

I personally think you should change all the owls to blue jays, then teach the kids that they are blue jays and that blue jays are owls. I believe it would be a good experiment. Let me know how it goes.

I was seriously thinking about giving the first assignment as: create your own animal and then draw a picture of it. And last but not least, (theatrical voice), "become one with the animal"!
Gotta love my little BIG brother's sarcasm. There goes some right back at you!
Love ya's!
